There is no notice period. Cancel in writing by email; the box must be empty and swept clean. On the cancellation day you empty the box, send a photo of the empty box by email, close the door and slide the bolt across. Once the email is received, the contract is cancelled, billing is to the exact day, and the deposit and unused rent are refunded.

Yes, at any time and free of charge — no new contract, no administrative effort, no fees. The only requirement is that the desired size is available at your location.

Prices vary by location and box size. For longer rental periods you benefit from discounts: 5 % from 3 months, 10 % from 6 months and 15 % from 12 months. You can find the exact prices on the respective location page or directly online.

Rental prices are based on the chosen size category. When switching to a larger box you only pay its rental price, no additional fees.

Yes. When renting several storage boxes you benefit from a combination discount of 5 %.

Yes. With prepayment you benefit from discounts: 5 % from 3 months, 10 % from 6 months and 15 % from 12 months rental period. In addition, when renting several storage boxes you receive a combination discount of 5 %.

Via the access app on your smartphone. WiFi is available in every storage room — open the app, hold your smartphone to the door, done. Standard access times are daily 06:00–22:00, on request also 24/7, 365 days a year.

No. Access is entirely via the access app on your smartphone.

Via the access app you open doors, the lift and your box. You can also share access with other people and revoke it at any time.

24/7 access is available on request. By default the facility is accessible daily from 06:00 to 22:00.

Yes. Every location is equipped with 24/7 video surveillance, electronic access control incl. individual Noke locks, heat and motion sensors, fire and burglary detectors, and climate control. Only you have access to your box.

The size you need depends mainly on your household goods. As a rule of thumb, about 10 % of your living area is enough for most moves. For a more accurate estimate, our BOXLY storage advisor & booking assistant helps — you can describe your furniture there or upload photos. If the box turns out to be too small or too large on move-in day, a change is possible at any time.

No. A good estimate is perfectly sufficient. If it turns out on move-in day that you need more or less space, we almost always find a suitable solution quickly — thanks to our many different box sizes you stay flexible at all times.

The number of available box sizes varies by location: in Basel there are 25 different box sizes, in Zurich/Dübendorf 16 and in Lucerne/Kriens 22. The size advisor helps you find the right size at your location.

Yes. Bicycles, e-bikes and sports equipment can be stored without any problem.

No. Storage itself does not include automatic insurance for your belongings. You can either use your existing household insurance or take out a storage room insurance through Helvetia.

Many Swiss household insurance policies also cover items stored externally, fully or partially. The terms vary by insurer. Check with your insurance before storing whether and to what extent your stored goods are insured.

The premium is based on the replacement value: from CHF 20.50 per year for CHF 10,000 cover, CHF 41.00 for CHF 20,000, up to CHF 102.50 for CHF 50,000.

The cover includes, among other things, theft, fire, water damage and natural disasters.

Yes. Optional covers are available for earthquakes (CHF 52 per year), e-bikes (CHF 17 per CHF 1,000 value) and valuables (CHF 12 per CHF 1,000 value).

Yes, water damage is one of the insured risks under the Helvetia cover.

Yes, theft is one of the covered risks.
